Desire society being a grassroot orphanage has difficulties meeting its monthly expenses for provisions and essential nutritional supplements. This time their most immediate requirements were provisions. H&L stepped in to help this and obtained a specific list of items required by them so as to avoid gaps in the things that is required vs that which is donated. The campaign required the kids to reach out to their own communities and collect the required donations.
This is a good way for the kids to get involved in volunteer work. It's a win-win for everyone as the desire society gets its needs fulfilled and when done right, it can definitely make volunteering kids more empathetic and grateful for their own blessings. It will help then handle failure better as their reference points in social comparisons may change and also set them up on a path to do good for others when required. The kids involved in the collection - Sachin Pradeep, Ashwanth Nambiar, Surjaditya Sarkar (students of Jupiter Education Services) definitely stepped up to obtain the required provisions. H&L delivered these to Desire society on the 27th Aug with Anish Vivek also helping in the process. This campaign helped them to meet the September provisions requirement.
As rightly quoted by Nelson Mandela - "History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday of children." On these lines, we hope to have made a small difference..
