This is the most important aspect of our operations. There is a certain amount of due diligence required to ensure that the funds reach the real disadvantaged children. Apart from the initial screening phone call, a preliminary visit to the place along with details obtained regarding their funding and operations help to give a clearer picture. During this process, its hearty to see that so many organisations are well funded and are run competently. In such a case, there is not much scope for H&L to add any further value.
Case and point : Premaanjali (http://premaanjali.org) was an orphanage, but now its converted to a Montessori based pre-school for underprivileged 2 - 6 yr old children from nearby slums. They provide free education and mid day meal for 80 children. In addition, they support visually impaired children with education and coaching for competitive exams. They have been around for over 30 years and thus have streamlined their operations very efficiently. Such notable service to the community, aspires us to do better.
